EPC 2001

This conference was organized by EAPS in collaboration with the Family Federation of Finland (Väestöliitto), the Finnish Demographic Society, and the Central Statistical Office of Finland at the occasion of the 60th anniversary of Väestöliitto.

EPC 2001 convened in Helsinki, Finland, from 7-9 June 2001.

The conference aimed at providing insights into the variations in European population trends and patterns, the various contexts which shape this variety, and its consequences. A full range of population issues was covered by EPC 2001 and although its main focus was on European population, the conference also addressed global population issues. The Plenary session was dedicated to "delayed childbearing in Europe: determinants and consequences" with a keynote address by Antonella Pinnelli.

The Conference was attended by around 400 participants. In addition to the Plenary session, the scientific programme had 40 silmultaneous sessions with some 300 presentations.
